"Practical and realistic,
yet free
of moral compromise . . .
Making Abortion Rare will accomplish
what its title claims—and much more
. . .
Brilliant."
—Rev. Paul
Marx, Founder of Human Life International
Learn the answers to these important questions:
-
What simple screening process
can prevent 80% of all abortions?
-
When is an abortionist legally
and ethically obligated to refuse to perform an unwanted, unsafe,
or unnecessary abortion?
-
How can we best protect women
from being coerced into unwanted abortions?
-
Why is a non-judgmental love for
those who have had abortions the key to helping them heal and
to ending abortion for this and future generations?
-
How can pastors authentically
preach on abortion in a way that unites rather than divides
their congregations, even when many in their pews have had abortions?
-
How can we mend the divisions
and heal the hurts between those who oppose abortion and those
who have had abortions?
Now

For a limited time only, we
are offering you the chance to get a paperbound copy
of Making Abortion Rare for a donation of just
$10.
This book normally sells for
$14.95, plus shipping. Today only, we'll send you
a printed copy to read at your leisure, or to share with
your friends, for a donation of just $10. For a larger
donation, we've got even more great premiums for you.
But more about those later.
Why are
we giving this away?
Because we need your help.
Due to a drop in donations, we have an $18,000 deficit.
We're a very small organization, with only three
employees and an annual operating budget of only $125,000.
So for us, an $18,000 deficit (14% of our total budget)
is HUGE!
Yet we are the only
organization devoted full-time to conducting original research
on the psychological effects of abortion, raising awareness
of abortion's harm to women, and exposing the epidemic of
unwanted, coerced and forced abortion
Both Praised and Scorned
Naturally our unique work has garnered the praise
of post-abortion and pro-life leaders.
But it's also attracted the
scorn of the New York Times and Supreme Court Justice
Ruth Bader Ginsburg who rail against the idea that the "liberty
of abortion" may actually cause many women to suffer unrelenting
grief and misery.
Even more appalling, for these
abortion defenders, is the idea that many women—more than
60 percent— feel pressured to abort by others. Nearly 80
percent don't get adequate counseling about alternatives
or other information, leaving them unable to make a free
or fully informed decision. And homicide is now the leading
cause of death among pregnant women, with many reported
cases of women being killed or assaulted for refusing to
abort.
This embarrassing problem
of coerced abortions is one which the defenders of abortion
continue to ignore. That is exactly why we need to
be steadfast in bringing the reality of coerced abortions
into the public eye.
National Polls Show We Are
Succeeding
Due in part to our
efforts, and the support of people like you, a recent national
poll found that 85 percent of American adults believe negative
emotional problems after an abortion are common to very
common.
Even among respondents identifying
themselves as “very pro-choice,” fully 60 percent shared
the view that abortion has a moderate to severe negative
impact on women. Only 15 percent of those polled believe
that abortion is helpful to women.
Plus, 80 percent of respondents
believe abortionists should be held liable for failing to
screen for coercion and other risk factors which put women
at risk of psychological complications after abortion.
We are
making a difference.
With your help, we can continue
to do so.
Critical Times Need Your
Support
However, right now we are
at a very critical juncture in our ministry. In these tough
financial times, we currently have an $18,000 deficit!
As noted above, our annual
operating budget is only $125,000.
So for us, an $18,000 deficit
(14% of our total budget) is HUGE!
Unless we get help from people
like you, we might not be able to help people like Jane—either
before or after they suffer from from an unwanted, unsafe
abortion.
We need new donors. And we
need them fast.
We are praying you will step
up to the plate and help us—today.
Now. Before you forget.
Look. We're used to being efficient. For
years we've done big things with just a little money.
For example, over the last nine years we have
published over a dozen studies in peer reviewed medical
journals showing abortion is associated with higher death
rates, more psychiatric illness, suicide, substance abuse,
and a host of other problems.
These studies are now key
sources of evidence in abortion malpractice cases and legislative
hearings, and are already getting noticed by the Supreme
Court, where Justice Kennedy (the fifth vote) has supported
the right of the state to protect women from unsafe or unwanted
abortions.
We've also developed innovative advertisements
to educate the public about the problem of coerced and dangerous
abortions. Ads which are touching hearts, like Jane's.
As you can see in the excerpts
on this page of letters we've received, these ads are truly
saving lives...and also saving souls.
What Your Donation Will Support
The Elliot Institute is the
only organization devoted full-time to conducting original
research on the psychological effects of abortion, raising
awareness of abortion's harm to women, and exposing the
epidemic of unwanted, coerced and forced abortions.

Our work is carried on through
the publication of peer-reviewed research in professional
journals and through educational materials published on
the Internet and in books and other print publications.
Our public education
efforts are conducted through "The UnChoice" project, which
offers professionally developed print ads, radio ads, and
even television ads to post-abortion ministries, pregnancy
help centers, churches and pro-life groups for free, or
at little cost.
These materials
are helping to raise awareness about coerced abortions and
the trauma caused by abortion. They are also helping
to attract and direct women and men suffering from the aftermath
of abortion to compassionate and effective post-abortion
ministries.
How Your Donation Can Help
Save Lives, Hearts and Souls
The proof that
our work truly is both life- and soul-saving comes through
stories like these:
-
“I can only
say thank you. You are my best friends; you have
saved my life. You have helped my three children
to gradually get their mum back. I felt completely lost
and I didn't want to live anymore.
"But you are just great. You gave me the information
I needed. ... Thank you for making me feel that my tears
and my desperation are just the consequences of this
experience and the only thing I wanted was to keep my
precious baby.”
-
“I just want
to say I am so thankful for your web site. I have a
friend who was considering abortion so I sent her to
your web site. She called me around two in the morning,
crying. Anyway, it changed her mind. I’ll be
praying for your ministry. Thanks so much!”

the attention of activists on both sides--plus all those in the
middle." Frederica Mathewes-Green, Common
Ground Network for Life and Choice; Author, Real Choices
-
"Reardon has changed the rules. ... He offers
us a solution which honors the beliefs and desires of the vast majority
of Americans, whether pro-choice or pro-life. From this point on,
the abortion debate will never be the same.";

Letters of Thanks
for Our Work

"Thanks for enlightening
me so widely about the abortion crisis in our world."
< < <

"[You] help people
see that the truth [about abortion] is not told or even lied about in
many cases; it also helps other women I know (as it has helped me)
to know we are not alone, and that people care.”
< < <
"Really, I have the Elliot Institute
to thank for my own paradigm shift in realizing that abortion is
awful for the mother as it is for the child.
"I
used to wonder how the debate could ever be settled between the pro-choice
and the pro-life factions. .. I [now] understand that one is not stuck
between a rock and a hard place by choosing between a mother and
a child."
< < <
“[Y]ou helped me to
see I was not alone and to understand how every-one colluded and hurt
me. I was young, alone, scared, etc., and surrounded by people who did
not care for me or the baby. …
"Today
I am free in the most defining way. … I have not felt this alive and
free since the abortion 30 years ago.”
< < <
“The UnChoice Campaign
is of critical importance. Few people understand how many women
are forced into abortions and denied protection from those who profit
from abortion and those who do not wish to take responsibility for actions.”
< < <
"I had worked through
intensive healing after my abortion, and am now happily married with
a beautiful daughter.
But abortion is some-thing
that always stays with you, and there are times when pain comes flooding
back to me.
"At
these times, your materials have helped me so much. They remind
me that I am not alone and that I am ok. Thank you so much. You are
angels sent from heaven."
< < <
"Thank
you for your 20 years of service to our nation by documenting and exposing
how legal abortion has been devastating to women, and has significantly
increased domestic violence to the point that homicide has tragically
become the leading cause of death for pregnant women. ...
"Your
invaluable work serves to educate the public about the need to assist
desperate women with the financial and moral support they so often lack
and need ..."
< < <
"The Elliot Institute
has been on the cutting edge of the post abortion issue. I can remember
when I was healing reading one of their books and thinking 'these
people are the only ones who know what I am feeling.'
"When no one else was speaking of the pain of abortion, they were bringing
attention to our wounds and helping us to see we were not crazy or alone.
< < <
What others are now
shouting from the rooftops, the Elliot Institute has been proclaiming
for years. ... Their research is invaluable and they continue to be
the number one source for information."
< < <
"The research from
the Elliot Institute is outstanding and has been an enormous help to
me in my work of educating.
"I
don't believe there is another group doing such valuable research
anywhere in North America. That makes the Institute indispensable to
those of us working in the pro-life movement."
