Video: Abortion Increases Women’s Risk of Premature Death

This video provides an overview of a new systematic review of the medical literature that reveals that each induced abortion a woman undergoes increases her risk of premature death by 50 percent or more.

The elevated risk of death is evident within the first 180 days, the risk of death from any cause is over twice as high following abortion compared to that following delivery. The risk of early death remains elevated for at least ten years.

Both abortion and miscarriage are linked to elevated mortality rates, but the effect is more strongly associated with induced abortions. The largest portion of premature deaths following pregnancy loss are due to suicides, accidents, homicides, and some natural causes, such as circulatory disease, which are known to be associated with stress.

The reviewers concluded that these findings are best explained by the psychological effects of pregnancy loss, which contribute to elevated levels of stress, substance abuse, risk taking, and self-destructive behaviors.

  1. The person speaking in this video has a very bad speaking voice. He doesn’t actually speak some parts of words, if they’re somewhat long, making the meaning of the sentence hard to understand.
I was quite disappointed in it. And I couldn’t find a date on much of your articles. That makes them almost useless.

    1. Hi Judy, the published dates on the articles were wiped out when we switched formats for our site. We are trying to add them manually, but with thousands of pages on our site it is a big job (new articles have the dates added manually when they are published). If you find an article with a missing date, you can post a comment noting this and I will see and add it. Thank you!
